HTMA, also known as Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, is a non-invasive test using a hair sample to determine mineral levels and heavy metal load in the body. Our partner lab has been testing hair samples since 1975. They are highly skilled in HTMA testing. You are provided with a full-colour report with recommendations to help you get your body back in balance.
Your hair keeps a record of current trace element levels as well as past levels. Toxic elements are deposited into the hair shaft and follicle from the bloodstream. As the trace elements and toxins are incorporated with your hair, it remains fixed. It is essential you follow our hair collection process, which is sent to you after purchase.

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) Test Considerations
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis results are falsely elevated by the following:
Hair colouring or tinting agents can elevate the trace elements and toxic metal levels in your test. Bleached and Permed hair alter levels of calcium, copper, nickel, magnesium and zinc. Dandruff shampoo can often yield high selenium levels. Grecian formulas or darkening agents often leave to high lead and mercury levels.
Therefore, hair samples must be taken from untreated hair. If you dye or perm your hair or use other chemicals on it, you should take a sample from your pubic hair. If you want to use hair from your head that has been treated, you must wait for 3 to 4 months of hair regrowth before taking a sample of untreated hair.
Underarm hair cannot be used as a hair sample. If your hair is treated and you do not have public hair, you should provide a fingernail sample that is free from nail polish.

I purchased a test for myself and for my cat. The results showed a number of deficiencies and I am purchasing supplments to rectify. I will test again in 6 months to see if it has made any difference to the levels. I am going to talk to my vet about the results for my cat which showed a few things as being low.
